Tsunami 津波

Japan lives under the constant threat of a tsunami as the country straddles 4 of the earth’s tectonic plates; the Philippines plate, Pacific plate, North American plate and the Eurasian plate. There is an earthquake every month but they would have more cause for concern if there wasn’t one.

The Tsunami Education Centre was built following the Sumatra-Andaman tsunami which caused such devastation in 2004 and is located at Hiromura which was devastated by the Ansei-Nankai tsunami in 1854.

The centre provides the local community with advice on how to respond to a tsunami warning and is well equipped with interactive equipment, simulators and a vivid 3D film which puts you at the centre of a tsunami.

There is a familiar ring to this with a ‘lessons learned’ process, the principal ones being an early warning system, good communication and the proposed building of 2 new walls at sea to deflect the energy of the wave.

なぜなら、日本はフィリピンプレート、太平洋プレート、北アメリカプレート、そしてユーラシアプレートの４つの海洋プレートにまたがって広がっているからです。毎月地震が起こりますが、地震が起こらなかったら更に心配になるでしょう。
津波教育センターは、2004年に起きたスマトラ島北西沖地震津波の後に広島に設立されました。
広島は、1854年に安政南海地震の打撃を受けた場所です。

同センターは地元のコミュニティに津波警報にどう対処すべきかアドバイスを提供し、シミュレーターや津波の中心を映し出す鮮やかな3Dフィルムといった、双方向装置の設置がよく整っています。
