A Golden Temple and Mirror Lake
Whilst in Kyoto we had a chance to visit the golden temple. This magnificent building was built as a retreat for royalty long ago in Kyoto. It has extensive beautiful gardens including a stunning tea ceremony room. It has many shops and areas where you can wake the gods and ask for different prayers and now you can buy many charms in the hope they might bring you luck.
You can see how the lake mirrors the garden and temple which is how it got its name. On the top of the temple is a phoenix.
We were very fortunate to have clear blue skies and the sight held a magical power to it that has to be seen to be experienced.
Here is a very tired looking me sharing tea with my adopted Japanese mother Majiko san.
