さて、私たちは大阪府に戻りまして、大阪府南の泉州に滞在しています。私は最後のホストファミリーとなる、素晴らしい尾崎家の皆様と滞在しています。尾崎家は動物病院を経営していて、ミルクという名前のゴールデンレトリバーを飼っています。夕飯前にカナと私でミルクを地元のお寺周りに散歩に連れて行きました。私にとって、素晴らしいロケーションです。
The family arranged for me to visit the Nishide hospital (small as only 34 beds) today, to meet their friend, a Ukrainian doctor called Valentina who has lived and worked in Japan for 12 years, and specialises in Cancer treatment (although she`s not an Oncologist). I learnt loads, and on my 6th hosptial visit managed to have my first chat with a patient, which was really valuable. In comparison to Wales, the approach taken to Cancer in terms of health promotion, diagnosis and treatment is hugely different in Japan; and the whole experience of visiting hospitals, and talking to various healthcare professionals has been fascinating and immensely useful.
ご家族は、本日、西出病院の訪問を手配してくださりました。ご家族のご友人である、バレンチナさんというウクライナ人のお医者さんに会うためです。彼女はガン治療の専門家として、日本に12年いらっしゃいます。６番目の病院訪問にして初めての患者さんとの対話も実現でき、大変貴重な経験でした。
ウェールズと比較して、日本のガン治療の方法はかなり異なっています。これまで全ての病院訪問の経験と、様々な医療専門家の皆様とお話ししたことは、大変興味深く、有意義な経験です。
I would like to extend special thanks to Valentina for taking 2 hours out of her afternoon to talk to me, as she is leaving Japan tomorrow morning and must have had many more important things to do with her time today!
バレンチナさんに、２時間お話しする時間を頂いたことに大変感謝しています。彼女は明日日本を発つので、私とお話しするよりももっと重要なことがたくさんあったでしょうに！
